Building Momentum for Vermont’s Outdoor Recreation Community

It started with a shared vision: a stronger, more unified voice for Vermont’s outdoor recreation community at the Statehouse. Working with a coalition of partners, from Vermont Trails & Greenways Council and Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance to the Kelly Brush Foundation, Unlikely Riders, and VOREC, we built the first-ever Vermont Outdoor Recreation Day.

Each week, I convened the steering committee to shape our message, plan legislative outreach, and coordinate everything from press releases to advocacy training. The energy was contagious. In just one year, participation grew from 70 to more than 100 stakeholders, testimony echoed through every corner of the Statehouse, and 30+ lawmakers joined us for lunch to talk about what’s next.
